Ways of the Wild and Wren's Nest and Teens, Oh My!

To say that Common Ground Center had a busy year in the rental department would be putting it mildly. We’ve had unprecedented traffic from such varied groups of people, and by the looks of it, 2013 will be even busier! Twenty-four different groups came to see the beauty of our site, some of them for multiple trips!

One of the great things about our site is that we can provide a continuum of interest for any age group. We have partnered with the Willowell Foundation to host their Wren’s Nest outdoor education preschool program, which aims to give kids a chance to do what nature intended…play! We were happy to see Starksboro’s Robinson Elementary hold a fundraiser for their music program and also return for their Spring field day, which is always a blast. Not to be outdone, The Schoolhouse in South Burlington returned for their annual parents overnight and many a s’more was consumed. High school students from Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg came for multiple field trips, while the Addison County Prevention Project hosted Mount Abe, CVU and Vergennes High Schools for a full day seminar.

Institutes of higher education were also drawn to our pristine piece of Starksboro, with groups from both Middlebury College and the University of Vermont spending weekends on site. We are proud to announce that Evolution Yoga may have found a home-away-from-home here at Common Ground as they hosted two separate retreats here this season. We are thrilled to be finding our niche in our local community, and hoping to see these groups back again soon!
