Common Ground Board of Directors Accepting Nominations!

Common Ground Board and StaffWe are accepting nominations for Common Ground Center's board of directors. Elections will be held at the Annual Meeting, to be held Sunday, November 3 from 9:30 am to Noon, followed by lunch.

If you'd like to get involved with setting the vision and direction for CGC, this could be for you! We're especially looking for folks with experience in human resources, finance, policy, or fundraising, but dedication and energy are equally valuable!

To nominate someone else, please submit their name, and we will follow up with that person.

To nominate yourself, please submit a brief statement including:

  • Your name
  • Occupation & Affiliation, if any
  • Past involvement in CGC, including programs you've attended
  • Brief bio (75 words or less)
  • What you hope to bring to the board (50 words or less)
  • Contact information

Candidates do not need to be present at the annual meeting to be elected, though attendance is encouraged.

The deadline to nominate is October 28.
The deadline to submit a candidate statement is November 1.

Board member commitment:

We are happy to discuss more details with potential board members, but below is a general outline of the anticipated commitment.

Board member expectations include:

  • Participation in quarterly board meetings (three in-person, one conference call)
  • Participation in committee meetings: In addition to standing personnel and finance committees, this year we plan to have an ad hoc 20th anniversary celebration committee.
  • Fundraising: This could include donor solicitation, special events, or helping recruit campers to fill programs.
  • Annual meeting: Board members are encouraged to attend our annual meeting, usually held in October or November.

 Board member responsibilities include:

  • Set overall vision along with short-term and long-term goals,
  • Oversee Director(s) and approve personnel policies,
  • Oversee organizational financial health,
  • Evaluate and set organizational policy,
  • Undertake an annual board self-evaluation,
  • Review periodic reports from staff,
  • Have FUN!
