Below are details about our 2016 program, which had our highest attendance ever! Details about our 2017 program will be updated in September.
2016 marks our fifth year offering Men's Weekend at Common Ground Center! Spend the weekend in a stress-free environment: learn a new skill, explore the magic of a Vermont autumn, and relax by the woodstove.
This year, Tim Gillespie of Jabberwocky Woodworks will be teaching the group the basics of hand woodcarving. Tim will guide the group through a series of project options using simple hand tools. No experience or previous skill necessary, but for those who have worked with wood in the past, Tim can provide guidance to take your work to the next level.
In addition, Chris Nial of Root 7 a capella will be on hand to guide anyone interested in stretching their vocal chords a little throughout the weekend. Men's Weekend offers outdoor activities for those who wish to participate. Take a guided hike on Common Ground's 700-acres of hiking trails, or take advantage of our recreational facilities (tennis, basketball, playing fields, etc). Our Eco-Lodge has a cozy Common Room where you can hang out and enjoy the woodstove.
If "the great outdoors" isn't for you, there will be planned indoor activities as well. Men are also welcome to simply hang out, read, and play games. In the evening, there will be group activities and plenty of time for conversation. All participants will stay in our new Eco-Lodge and enjoy delicious meals cooked for you. Coffee and tea (and hot chocolate!) will be available throughout the day and evening.
The weekend program fees - listed on our registration form - include all meals, blacksmithing lessons & materials, guided activities, and lodging. Receive a $25 discount for each friend you recommend to Common Ground who registers for our Men’s Blacksmithing Weekend. Make sure your friends mention you when they register!
Please call our office (1-800-430-2667) to register or for more information.
